Why Byrne Wallace Shields LLP?

Byrne Wallace Shields LLP stood out to me as being a full-service Irish law firm. The breadth of practice areas was a huge draw for me when applying for my training contract. Thankfully, I did get the exposure I wanted to three very contrasting Departments during my rotations. 

The Firm’s upstanding reputation in the industry was another attractive prospect for me. I have been lucky to work alongside and learn from top-rated solicitors in their fields. At all levels, the solicitors in Byrne Wallace Shields are open and approachable. Partners and Fee Earners are keen to involve Trainees in projects at a high level and to cultivate a positive learning environment within the Firm. 

Despite its growing size, the Firm continues to maintain a collegiate and friendly atmosphere, and promote a work-life balance. 

Describe your rotations to date

Since returning to the office after Blackhall, I have worked in a diverse range of Departments, namely, Insolvency and Corporate Restructuring, Health Services, and Employment. As a result, I have been involved in a wide range of interesting, stimulating work. As a Trainee in each Department, I was encouraged to be curious, proactive and to ask questions. 

I enjoyed learning from the solicitors and being delegated the responsibility to draft legal documents and correspondence and to liaise directly with clients, all while having the support of the team behind me. It is satisfying to make a real contribution to the team. 

Future at Byrne Wallace Shields LLP

As I near the end of my training contract, I am grateful for my in-office training, which has provided me with a great start to my career. I am looking forward now to qualifying and furthering my career as a Solicitor.
