Byrne Wallace Shields LLP Hosts European Athletes and Players Association Meeting
Wednesday, 21 January 2026
Byrne Wallace Shields LLP was delighted to provide the ‘home ground’ for the European Athletes and Players Association (EAPA) this week.
Over two days, EAPA members gathered at our offices for a series of collaborative sessions focused on some of the most important issues in modern sport including tackling gambling‑related harm and match‑fixing, and strengthening mental‑health literacy and support for athletes across Europe.
The Head of our Sports Law Group, Peter McKenna, also joined discussions on Athletes for Good Governance and Rights in Europe (AGREE) - a framework designed to elevate governance standards in European sport by strengthening meaningful social dialogue and building robust collective bargaining structures that protect and empower athletes.
Byrne Wallace Shields LLP and EAPA share a firm commitment to integrity, wellbeing, and good governance in sport. Hosting this week’s meetings further reinforced that shared purpose and the positive impact of continued collaboration.
