Byrne Wallace Shields LLP is delighted to have finished 6th in the Funds Industry Challenge 2025, retaining the title of highest placed participating law firm for the second year in a row.
Now in its third year, the Funds Industry Climate Challenge, organised by the Green Team Network in partnership with Global Action Plan Ireland, aims to inspire and educate staff from participating companies, by highlighting and celebrating the many small steps that everyone can take, in our daily lives, to reduce our carbon footprints.
Green initiatives implemented during the challenge included reducing printing, improved recycling and waste management, reducing the use of disposable containers and single use plastics, and reduced energy consumption by using more energy efficient devices and switching off items that are not in use.
Key achievements from this year’s challenge included:
- The average kgCO₂e saving per Byrne Wallace Shields participant was 199.91kgCO₂e - equivalent to using 340kWh of energy. This is roughly the same as using a vacuum cleaner for 12 days.
- Overall, the firm saved 4,764.51 kgCO₂e - equivalent to using 13,596kWh of energy. This is roughly how much energy a wind turbine produces in a day.
- In total, the firm recorded 4,939 sustainable activities across the two-week challenge period, with the top 10 daily activities being following:
- I did not print unnecessary paper today;
- I switched off unnecessary lights today;
