Byrne Wallace Shields LLP announces Corporate Responsibility partnership with Solas Project
Tuesday, 03 November 2015
Byrne Wallace Shields LLP is pleased to announce our strategic partnership with Solas Project.
Solas Project works to equip and empower young people growing up at a socio-economic and/or educational disadvantage to reach their full potential, live life to the full and participate fully in society regardless of their background. Through a diverse range of innovative interventions and programmes of learning, mentoring, personal and social development, including after-school and school-based programmes, Solas Project aims to raise the self-worth, character and motivation of a young person so that they can reach their potential and create a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
Commenting on the announcement, Catherine Guy, Managing Partner, Byrne Wallace Shields LLP said, “as a law firm, we recognise that we have a responsibility to make and can make, a real difference to our society and our community.
“Corporate responsibility is an integral part of the ethos of Byrne Wallace Shields LLP. As a member of the business community, we are committed to ensuring that we also contribute to and benefit the communities and the environment in which we work.
“We are delighted to have this opportunity to support Solas Project. In addition to supporting their fund raising efforts, we also hope that by actually participating in their programmes we can help to make an impact on the lives of the children and young people involved.”
Graham Jones, Head Gardener (CEO), Solas Project added, “we are delighted to have Byrne Wallace Shields LLP on board as strategic partner and look forward to working with them over the next 12 months. Volunteering is the life blood of our organisation. When a young person realises an individual is there not because they have to but because they believe in them and want to support them, this leads to an increased sense of self-worth."
Byrne Wallace Shields LLP has a well established Corporate Responsibility programme which extends to pro bono work, charitable giving, local involvement and volunteerism. The firm supports a number of charitable organisations and community-based projects. Most recently Catherine Guy, Managing Partner, participated for the third time in the Focus Ireland Shine a Light Night 2015, joining over 50 business leaders in a sleep out to raise funds and awareness for those experiencing homelessness.
